The swelling population growth in Texas, combined with the teacher shortage, is creating a barrier to providing quality education for our next generation.
At the center of this crisis is a teacher pipeline that is inflexible, lengthy, and costly. These barriers prevent quality members of your community from entering the teaching profession. Addressing this challenge requires a new model for teacher preparation that brings together the school district, alternative licensure pathways, and innovative higher education.
The Elevate program is an integrated, district-led approach to teacher development. Indiana Wesleyan University partnered with Teachworthy and Capturing Kids’ Hearts to offer an accelerated path to degree completion and teacher certification – all while serving as a classroom instructor.
As a partner district, you can offer an accelerated path to a 4-year degree and teacher certification for any non-degreed employee you invite to participate. Your employee begins their education career debt free, and your district is equipped with an out-of-the-box, financially sustainable “grow your own” teacher development pipeline
IWU has a consistent ethos of financial accountability that influences how we serve students through partnerships.
IWU, in partnership with Teachworthy, created a flexible pathways to credentialing teachers for the classroom.
IWU has been accredited and in good standing with the Higher Learning Commission since 1966.
IWU is committed to providing an affordable pathway to a higher education degree. This commitment is at the heart of the school district partnership. IWU offers students a predictable, reduced tuition throughout their time in the program.
At Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU), we know you are the kind of organization that wants to serve the next generation with quality education. To support these goals, you need a scalable, affordable teacher pipeline. The problem is: the higher education system is often a barrier to these goals, which is limiting and frustrating.
We believe a new model of teacher preparation is needed. That’s why we created the Bridge Initiative to solve this dilemma.
