to Support Flight Schools
Affordable, flexible degrees through flight schools
Affordable, flexible degrees through flight schools
Have you ever wanted to develop the next generation of pilots and felt constrained by the financial and higher education systems?
The truth is: Flight training is often under-resourced and inflexible. Flight schools and individuals find these barriers difficult to overcome. As a result, goals are unmet or delayed.
At Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU), we believe that higher education can serve the goals of flight schools and individual students, so we have created a partnership model that offers accessible, flexible flight training that leads to a higher education degree.
Across U.S. higher education, the average tuition for a public or private college ranges between $20K-$40K annually.
Students are staying on average within 50 miles of their family and friend, often reducing educational options.
Private flight school attendance limits access to federal financial aid to cover the cost of flight instruction.
Flight schools often lack access to reasonable funding mechanisms to cover the cost of flight instruction.
Flight schools struggle to recruit prospective students, forced to invest in expensive marketing campaigns to attract students.
As a result of these factors, flight schools may find it difficult to operate in the competitive landscape of aviation training.
Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) is launching the Bridge Initiative to address these industry challenges, by offering professional aviation programs through partnerships with flight schools.
IWU has a consistent ethos of financial accountability that influences how we serve students through partnerships.
IWU offers a wide array of degree options to support the needs of different learners of all backgrounds and ages.
IWU has been accredited and in good standing with the Higher Learning Commission since 1966.
IWU offers two aviation degrees, including associate and bachelor's options. Both programs provide flight training in the students' local environment along with quality online coursework to prepare the student for career in the aviation field. Depending on the students' path, they might pursue airline pilot, captain, or trainer positions. Management students might pursue leadership careers in an assortment of aviation fields.*
